On this day, 23 United States Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group participated in a raid to take out Osama bin Laden, the head of al-Qaeda and the mastermind behind the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and several other terrorist attacks around the world. Bin Laden was killed.
