The statue of Saddam Hussein in Firdos Square in Baghdad was knocked down. This marked the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, which had held power for 24 years. The event was televised live all over the world as troops and citizens slowly pulled down the statue of the former man in power.

May 1st

President George W. Bush delivers the "Mission Accomplished" speech. In the speech, Bush announces the end of major combat operations in Iraq.

April 9th

I remember watching the entire "ceremony" of the statue being pulled down and wondering what the big deal was and why it was taking them so long to just get it over with.
