Obvious choice, I know, but this is a news story that was heard all around the world. On this day, two civilian planes were hijaked and flown into the World Trade Center building, best known as the Twin Towers, in New York City. Another two planes were hijaked as well, one targeting the Pentagon, and the other brought down in Pennsylvania before it could reach Washington DC. 2977 people lost their lives that day.
September 11th
When 9/11 happened, I was only Five-years-old and I was still living in Italy. It was 3pm when the attacks happened, and I was visiting my grandmother who had come over from the U.S. to visit my family in Italy. She had the American news on the TV, and when the Today show flipped over to the footage of the attacks, silence filled the usually noisy kitchen. I may have been only 5, but I understood perfectly what was going on.
