Saddam Hussein is sentenced to death by hanging. He is charged with crimes against humanity and repression of a Shiite town. Many Shiite and Iraqi people celebrate the verdict, feeling relief and happiness for they no longer have to suffer under the brutal rule of Hussein. Hussein is still relentless after his verdict is read, shouting with authority his beliefs that he carried with himself to the grave.
January 19th
NASA launches the New Horizons space probe set on a mission to Pluto. It was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida
